Crash closes lanes on I-85 North in Mecklenburg County
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of I-85 North were closed near Exit 40 in Charlotte after a crash on Sunday. The crash happened around 1 p.m., according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. One person was seriously injured in the crash, according to Medic.

We woke up to overcast skies this morning, but we’re putting the sun back in Sunday this afternoon. Despite the return of our favorite ball of hydrogen and helium, temperatures are struggling to clear the 70s today thanks to winds out of the northeast. Expect a comfy, cool, and clear night as lows dip into 40s and 50s across the western half of the Carolinas. Bright blue skies make another appearance on Monday – and the dry times will likely stick around. Significant rain chances remain at bay through midweek; if Charlotte Douglas doesn’t receive any rain through Thursday, this will be our driest stretch in nearly four weeks.

Traffic delays cleared after I-85 closure in Gaston County
GASTONIA, N.C. — Interstate 85 southbound in Gaston County has reopened but still faced miles of delays after a closure during Friday's rush hour commute. The road was closed southbound near the exit for Lowell, which is Exit 22 for South Main Street. Even after the roadway fully reopened, delays continued to stretch back several miles through at least McAdenville and Belmont. Delays stretched back across the Catawba River and back into Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
