Water main break closes down Greensboro Elementary School
GREENSBORO — A water main break has caused Greensboro Elementary School to close Friday due to a lack of running water. Crews have been working throughout Thursday night into Friday to solve the ongoing problem at the 300 block of North Main Street. “North Main Street water service remains unavailable,” the town wrote in a post early Friday morning, asking residents to avoid the area. “Crews have already replaced more than 35 feet of deteriorated terracotta pipe,” the town said in a statement. “As repairs progressed, additional sections of the existing pipe continued to fail, requiring approximately 61 additional feet of pipe to be replaced in order to make a secure connection to the existing water main.” School closures were announced by Caroline County Public Schools on Facebook, citing the water main break as the reason. The closure of the Greensboro Elementary School includes the Judy Center Early Learning Hub. “The town recognizes the significant inconvenience this creates for residents, businesses, and the school community,” the town’s statement read. “Our priority is to complete the repair safely and properly and restore water service as quickly as possible.” The town said it will continue to provide updates as the repair progresses

'A lasting reminder of life': Easton High's new scoreboard honors fallen Warriors
EASTON — Easton High unveiled its new state-of-the-art scoreboard Friday night at Warrior Stadium. But to the string of speakers, the families and friends seated under and standing outside the large, white tent, and many of the spectators streaming into the stadium’s bleachers prior to Friday’s season-opening football game, this was much, much more. “Today we are not simply presenting a scoreboard,” Talbot County Public Schools Superintendent Sharon Pepukayi said. “We’re presenting a lasting reminder of life, and other lives that mattered. “A scoreboard is designed to keep track of numbers, the points, minutes, wins and losses,” Pepukayi continued. “But the most important things cannot be measured by numbers. They’re measured by the people we inspire. By the friendships we build. By the lives we touch. And by the memories we leave behind.” Darren Foxwell, a 2025 graduate of Easton High, died June 18, 2025 from injuries sustained as a passenger in a single-car crash one day before. He was 18. Foxwell wrestled and played lacrosse at Easton. He left behind a trail of memories, not because he was a team star, but because he was an athlete who gave his all while endearing himself to teammates with his forever
