On Wednesday's episode of the Paul Finebaum Show, a caller dialed in to ask Finebaum his thoughts about the upcoming season for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky has been a staple of consistency under head coach Mark Stoops, but it's been consistently mediocre.

Though they can hang with just about anybody, they've struggled to get over the hump and have only produced two 10 win seasons in Stoops' 11 year career.

Kentucky has a lot of new pieces, including at the quarterback position where former Georgia Bulldogs passer Brock Vandagriff, who was a five-star recruit out of high school, takes over for Devin Leary.

Finebaum views him as a huge upgrade over Leary.

“I'm an optimist when it comes to Mark Stoops’ program," Finebaum said. "Fairly disappointed last year with the way it went. I expect a better season. I think Vandagriff is going to be an upgrade for them over (Devin) Leary."

Last year, Kentucky started the season 5-0 before losing six of its last eight games. This season, Finebaum thinks nine wins would be a solid season for the Wildcats.

"I think they have a lot of compliments. Nine wins, something like that, I think that would be a really good season," he added.

Kentucky's 2024 schedule features tough matchups against Georgia, the Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Volunteers and the Texas Longhorns.
