Branchburg's first Chipotle proposed for Route 22

BRANCHBURG – The township Planning Board will continue a public hearing in January on a proposal to build a Chipotle on Raritan Valley College Drive at Route 22 in the North Branch section. RVCD LLC, part of Branchburg-based Larken Associates, wants to demolish the vacant PNC Bank on the 1.24-acre property and build a 2,385-square-foot restaurant with a "Chipotlane" for customers to pick up orders placed through the Chipotle app. Edmund Yu, a design manager for the Mexican grill chain, told the Planning Board on Oct. 27 that the restaurant expects to hire 30 to 40 workers, about half of whom would be part-time. The restaurant would have 40 indoor seats and 20 outdoor seats. Hours would be 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Yu said. How the Branchburg Chipotlane would work Yu said there would be no menu board or speaker at the Chipotlane because customers would place their orders through the app and use the lane only to pick up their food.
