Maryland native Jimmy Charles performs for Potomoc River crash victims
Ocean City, Maryland, native Jimmy Charles had the honor of taking part in a national evening of remembrance to honor the victims and first responders of the 2025 Potomoc River mid-air collision. Country singer and songwriter Charles joined families, first responders and national leaders on Jan. 28, 2026, in Washington, D.C., for an invitation-only memorial. The event marked one year since the collision of a passenger plane and a U.S. Army helicopter that claimed 67 lives near the nation’s capital. Charles said the performance was one of the biggest honors of his career. "The fact that those families chose me out of all the artists in the world to bring music and healing to their family and loved ones for this special ceremony is just so humbling and endearing. In their darkest moment they came to me and I will never forget them, the 67 and this evening," Charles said. "I could not have been more honored and so happy to be there for them," he continued. At one point during the evening, a video montage of the victims was presented. "(The victims) were so full of life, dream chasers, loving families with children, and so many young, beautiful people,"
