Brazilian steakhouse Nossa Casa opens in Millsboro, a first for area
The newly opened Nossa Casa in Millsboro has all the hallmarks of a Brazilian steakhouse: Gauchos. A rodizio grill. A large selection of meats, from steak to pork to chicken hearts, served tableside. Thaina and Maria Louisa Bittencourt-Ventura were born in Brazil and came to the U.S. as teens. With Nossa Casa, which means "Our House" in Portuguese, the sisters are endeavoring to bring Brazilian food and culture to southern Delaware, and they remodeled the old Georgia House building at 109 Main St. to do it. The sisters are joined in the venture by Maria Louisa Bittencourt-Ventura's fiancé Connor Smail, Thaina Bittencourt Ventura's husband Danio Samosa, and his brother, Enrique Samosa. Daniel Samosa also owns Harvest Tide steakhouse in Lewes and Bethany Beach and Zoca in Bethany Beach. He and Thaina Bittencourt-Ventura previously owned Zava restaurant, with locations in Milton and Bethany Beach, but sold it so Thaina could stay at home and raise their children, according to Smail. "Now she's itching to go back to work and she's in love with the rest industry," Smail said. "She wanted to open a new spot that was a little bit more based in Brazilian culture, because there isn’t really anything like

With a “heart of town” location, bespoke ambiance that feels “upscale lodge,” and top tier menu with plate presentations to match, it’s small wonder why Tidewater Inn’s Hunters’ Tavern has been a favorite dining destination for Easton locals, and visitors alike, for more than 15 years. The pedigree of the Inn—in which the tavern has resided as the dining centerpiece since extensive renovations in 2009—actually dates back to 1947 when the concept of the Tidewater property was conceived and built by A. Johnson Grymes. Nearly 80 years later, we paid a visit to experience this hallmark restaurant, situated at the corner of Harrison and Dover streets.
