Fire damages North Beach house Shortly before 4 a.m. on May 7, firefighting units from Calvert and Anne Arundel counties were dispatched to a blaze at a two-story home on 9th Street in North Beach. No injuries were reported. According to the North Beach Volunteer fire Department, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
Maryland Chefs Encouraged To Submit Recipes For Governor Moore’s ‘Buy Local’ Cookout
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Department of Agriculture is seeking Maryland chefs and restaurants to submit original recipes using local Maryland ingredients for the Governor’s Buy Local Cookout. The annual cookout, being held at the department’s headquarters in Annapolis on July 18 from 5-7pm, promotes the statewide Buy Local Challenge Week during which all Marylanders are encouraged to eat at least one local product each day of the week.
Talbot Historical Society Project Rewind: Stopping Off at Claiborne
The Baltimore, Chesapeake, and Atlantic railroad ran from Baltimore by ferry to Claiborne and then to Ocean City, Maryland. A charter for the Baltimore and Eastern Shore Railroad Co. was obtained in the Maryland legislature by Claiborne’s General Joseph B. Seth on April 1, 1886. The assets of the B & E S line were purchased by John E. Searles in 1894, and the railroad line then became the B, C, & A on September 1, 1894. This April 18, 1921 photo of the Royal Oak Station is found in the Elizabeth Swaine Collection at the Talbot Historical Society and is a treasure! Vehicle fire breaks out in parking lot off Airport Road
EASTON — A vehicle fire broke out in the parking lot of Technology Commons at 2900 Information Ln. Friday afternoon. Easton Volunteer Fire Department, St. Michaels Fire Department, Cordova Volunteer Fire Company, Talbot County Emergency Services and the Easton Police Department were all on the scene. Paramedics with Talbot County Emergency Services said they were dispatched to the fire at 2:24 p.m. The vehicle was a Magothy Electric Company van. The fire was extinguished at about 2:45 p.m. On the scene, the department put down absorbent to prevent the spread of fuel from the vehicle.

Gotterup wins inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic; finishes 22 under
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C (WMBF) – The winner of the first-ever Myrtle Beach Classic has been crowned. Chris Gotterup, 24, from Easton, Maryland won the inaugural tournament by finishing 22 under. This is Gotterup’s first PGA TOUR title in his 27th career start. He now qualifies for next week’s PGA Championship.
