MD House and Senate Approve Trans Health Equity Act
Both chambers of the Maryland legislature have passed a bill that would require the state's Medicaid program to cover gender affirming care. While some gender affirming treatments are currently covered by Medicaid, the Trans Health Equity Act would expand coverage to all forms of gender affirming treatment that are consistent with current clinical standards.

Slipping past quarantines, spotted lanternflies enter new Mid-Atlantic terrain
Authorities across the Mid-Atlantic keep expanding spotted lanternfly quarantine zones, but the tenacious bugs don’t seem to be getting the message. In February, Pennsylvania officials added six counties — Butler, Clearfield, Clinton, Fayette, Lawrence and Somerset — to their list of counties under quarantine, bringing the total to 51 statewide. In doing so, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding sounded an optimistic note: “Through collective and intentional efforts, including instituting quarantine zones, we continue to slow the spread of this insect, and I call on all Pennsylvanians to assist.”

Maryland enters into consent decree with ABF Freight System to resolve allegations of Clean Water Act violations
BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown this week, in partnership with the Maryland Department of the Environment, announced a proposed settlement (consent decree) has been reached with freight carrier ABF Freight System, Inc. to resolve allegations that it violated requirements of the Clean Water Act (CWA) relating to industrial stormwater at locations across the country, including one located in Elkridge.
