HANNIBAL, Mo. — Heather Clemens knows what it’s like to walk the path alone as a parent to a special needs child, and she doesn’t want anyone else to have to do it. Clemens’ daughter, now 16 years old and mostly nonverbal, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Her 13-year-old son has ADHD and also is on the autism spectrum.
Hannibal Alliance for Youth Success will be host of bingo event on Friday
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Alliance for Youth Success (HAYS) will be the host of Bingo for Bright Futures at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at Immanuel Baptist Church. This event will cost $25 per person, which will include 1 Bingo card and 10 rounds of Bingo. There will be an optional charge of $10 extra for every additional Bingo card purchased. Tax increment financing is effective. It has led to economic development and increased growth in our historic downtown business district. As mayor, I was proud to propose and implement TIF East in 2010 with the help of our terrific city planner, Chuck Bevelheimer. A multitude of infrastructure improvements have occurred since then, and private investment has skyrocketed.
Twenty-eight agree to plea sentences through Marion County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in February, March
MARION COUNTY, Mo. — The Marion County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office closed out 28 cases by plea February and March in the Circuit Court of Marion County, Missouri. Montana G. McDowell, 26, of Keokuk, Iowa, pleaded guilty Feb. 2 to felony stealing. McDowell admitted that on Nov. 26, 2022, she appropriated an Apple watch and other electronic merchandise from Walmart without purchasing the items. Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd granted McDowell a suspended imposition of sentence and placed her on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that she completes financial counseling, pays restitution and has no contact with any Walmart stores. This case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.
