JEFFERSON — Burlington used a four-run rally in the seventh inning to upend Jefferson 7-5 in nonconference baseball at Fischer Field on Wednesday.

The Demons (5-11) tallied three hits and took advantage of a walk to wipe away their two-run deficit. Brady Weis doubled to lead off the inning, taking third on Aben Beinlich’s single. After Trey Kerkhoff drew a four-pitch walk, Carter Baumeister lined a bases-clearing double to center to give the Demons a 6-5 edge. After a sacrifice bunt, Jack Sagedal’s sacrifice fly made it 7-5.

Burlington reliever Mason Tomczyk worked a 1-2-3 seventh with a pair of punch outs to earn the decision.

Division 2 10th-ranked Jefferson led 4-1 after a four-run rally in the third, which saw Tyler Schroedl single home a run and score from second base on a dropped third strike. Payton Heard’s run-scoring double capped the inning.

Kerkhoff contributed a two-run single in the fifth, cutting the Demons’ margin to 4-3. Andrew Altermatt singled home a run in the Jefferson fifth.

Tyler Fredrick started for the Eagles (14-4), allowing two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in five innings. Bentley Wagner surrendered four runs on four hits in two frames and was saddled with the loss.

Jefferson has a doubleheader versus Wisconsin Dells at Fischer Field on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The program’s 2014 state championship-winning team will be recognized between games as part of the 10-year reunion event recognizing the Eagles’ historic triumph.
