A New Highway Could Reshape Travel North of Columbus
As the Galion area is uniquely and increasingly tied to the northern expansion from Columbus, 1831Galion will continue to cover the possible connection between US23 and I71. The long-discussed highway connection now has a preferred route, a projected price tag, and a clearer picture of how much it could change travel across the region. The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission have released the final U.S. 23/I-71 Connector Feasibility Study, recommending an 18.2-mile highway extending from U.S. 23 north of Waldo to I-71 south of State Route 521. The proposed route would also include an interchange with U.S. 42 north of Ashley.
