Osseo takes next step in Boerboom Park master plan
Two houses owned by the city of Osseo will soon be removed next to Boerboom Park. On Oct. 26, the City Council approved demolition specifications to remove those homes, a bid package, bid solicitation and contract execution in the amount of $8,867. These two homes, at 25 Fourth St. and 417 First Ave. Northeast, are located on the east side of the city block with the park. Alyson Fauske, city engineer with WSB, said there were two other homes to the west that were removed in 2022. The city has been working on purchasing the homes next to Boerboom Park when they went on the market for sale. The plans are for the city to create a larger park area taking over the entire block area. No confirmed plans for a new park layout have been approved at this time. During a work session on Oct 26, Fauske said early this year, WSB completed an asbestos assessment of both homes. “Those homes are now vacant,” Fauske said. “Staff wanted to see if the council would be interested in getting quotes to remove those remaining [homes].” Councilmember Mark Cook mentioned for the public why the council was making this decision.
