DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Harper Woods man could spend the rest of his life in prison if he's convicted of attempted murder and other felonies in the shooting of his girlfriend , late last year.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said 29-year-old Brenitaze Moore was located by police in Delaware and was brought back to Michigan to face charges in connection with the shooting, which prompted school lockdowns and a warning to area residents to shelter in place on Dec. 21, 2023 .

According to prosecutors, it's alleged that Moore and the victim, who was his girlfriend at the time, got into an argument that escalated to violence at a home in the 18900 block of Woodcrest St. in Harper Woods.

At around 8 a.m., when the victim got into her car and tried to leave, it's alleged that Moore pulled out a handgun and shot her multiple times through the driver's side window, striking her in the stomach.

The victim, identified as a 25-year-old Detroit resident, did survive the shooting.

The prosecutor's office said Moore was extradited from Delaware to Michigan, arriving in Michigan last Friday.

He was arranged in 36th District Court on Saturday on the following counts: Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felonious Assault, four counts of Felony Firearm, and Domestic Violence.

Moore was remanded to jail following his initial court appearance and will be back in court for a probable cause conference scheduled for April 24.
