Welcome home Dolly, a century-old Broadway piano finds a new home in Rosendale
A century-old baby grand piano with a storied Broadway past is about to take center stage again, this time in the intimate surroundings of The Muse, Rosendale's community-centered home for music and the arts. The Muse will present, “Welcome Home, Dolly!,” a three-hour musical celebration featuring a parade of pianists and fellow musicians exploring the remarkable range and character of its newest resident, 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Muse, 1 Madeline Lane, Rosendale. Affectionately named Dolly, the piano accompanied the original Broadway cast of “Hello, Dolly!” during the Carol Channing years, 1964–1970. More than a century after she was built and following an extensive restoration by Hudson Valley master piano restorer, tuner, and pianist Michael Schirmer, Dolly has found a permanent home at The Muse, thanks to Schirmer's generous donation.

Grateful Dead Close out Fall Tour in Binghamton: November 6, 1977
Whenever a Grateful Dead discussion ensues, the year 1977 generally soon follows. And for good reason. Many argue it’s the best, or at least their preferred, era of the band’s music, pointing to such epic shows in New York like ones earlier this year at Cornell on May 8 and the next day’s show in Buffalo. But thankfully The Grateful Dead was not quite done with the state just yet as they decided to end their 1977 Fall Tour in Binghamton. Their first appearance at Broome County Arena on November 6 would mark the final show on the East Coast for this most holy of years, closing out one of the most revered chapters in the band’s history.
