Contestant makes history as first Miss Delaware Teen USA with Down syndrome
History was made in Delaware Sunday night, as 17-year-old Kayla Kosmalski became the first contestant with Down syndrome to be crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA. Kosmalski is a senior and varsity cheerleader at Middletown High School, located about 30 miles south of Wilmington. The Miss Delaware USA organization described her as capturing the hearts of many with her “radiant spirit and inspiring journey.”

Orange County Land Trust launches campaign to save county's "last wilderness"
The Orange County Land Trust has launched a multiyear campaign to preserve thousands of acres of undeveloped forest near Port Jervis and Deerpark, New York. The “Save Orange County’s Last Wilderness” campaign aims to develop local partnerships and raise money to acquire parcels from willing landowners and preserve them as a park. So far, the campaign has the support of County Executive Steve Neuhaus, the Open Space Institute, and the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis. Judges fail to grant protection order after violent domestic attack
ROSENDALE – A 26-year-old Kerhonkson man was arrested on Saturday, April 27, by Rosendale Police after the officers responded to a report of domestic violence, but no judge was available hear the case. Jordan Mahany, 26, was charged with a felony and three misdemeanors but was not arraigned due to a lack of response from six different town justices in the area.
