The scene unfolded well after midnight in the City of Newburgh after a prom party that News 12 has now learned was hosted by Town of Wallkill Police Lt. Robert McLymore, who’s also running for City Council.

The incident occurred in Orange County around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, June 3 near the area of Poplar Street and Fowler Avenue in Newburgh. The two victims were found when police officers responded to the area on the notice of a shooting, said Mike Neppal, spokesman for the city of Newburgh Police.

They confirmed the investigation status Sunday evening but did not provide any information about the victim or cause of death.  

I have to vent about one of most inconsiderate drivers on the planet that nearly hit me this week. This jerk needs to be called out. There is no definitive evidence that people don't drive as well in the summer months. Most people drive more cautiously in the winter for obvious reasons. A Goshen man pleaded guilty to first-degree rape in Orange County Court on Monday, according to District Attorney David M. Hoovler. Under the plea agreement, Jesus Torres, 32, is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in state prison along with 10 years of post-release supervision. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28 by Judge Craig Stephen Brown. Torres will be registered as a sex offender under the New York Sex Offender Registration Act as part of the sentence.
