4H ALARM Robotics Builds Leaders as Well as Robots
Shown is the 4H ALARM FRC Robotics Team after winning the First “Engineering Inspiration Award” at the New England District Championship. The 23 young members of the 4H ALARM FRC Robotics Team 2079, who meet regularly at Franklin’s Red Brick Schoolhouse, had a momentous year building their 120 lb. robot, “Hydra,” and entering it into several First Robotics Competitions this year. This group certainly earns their name, an acronym for “A Lot of Awesome Robot Makers.” Participating in First Robotics Competitions (FRC) run by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the team of students from 8th to 12th grade from 11 local towns, first became second place finalist and winner of the Team Spirit Award at the New England District BSU Event 2024, and later won the prestigious Engineering Inspiration Award at both the New England District Championship in West Springfield and WPI. The latter earned them a spot at the World Championship at Houston, Texas.

A spacious house located at 5 Strawberry Lane in Norfolk has new owners. The 2,640-square-foot property, built in 1986, was sold on June 28, 2024. The $1,076,000 purchase price works out to $408 per square foot. This two-story house provides a generous living space with its four bedrooms and five bathrooms. On the exterior, the home features a gable roof design constructed with asphalt roofing. The property is equipped with hot water heating and a cooling system. The property encompasses a generous 1.0-acre of land.
Assistant principal who quietly resigned from Hull High hired in similar position in Mansfield
Julie Burke, now known as Julie Burke Israel, was mentioned among other hires by Mansfield Superintendent Teresa Murphy in a district newsletter on June 20. When questioned about Burke’s absence from Hull High in May, former Superintendent Judith Kuehn asked that the public “respect her privacy” and would give no further details about the administrator’s prolonged absence. Burke Israel did not attend Hull High’s graduation, and her resignation was not discussed at the school committee’s June 24 meeting. The Times’ request to committee Chair David Twombly about why the district did not announce Burke Israel’s departure has gone unanswered.

It will include a parent-child class and a Pre-K class. This playdate is geared toward children ages 4 months to 6 years old, but they offer classes up to 12 years old. Massachusetts seems to have a law for everything and while it makes sense for some things others are just strange. As we all know the 4th of July recently passed and Massachusetts is the only state that has a law against consumer fireworks including buying, selling, and using. Some folks agree with this law while others think it's complete nonsense. In addition, this law doesn't seem to be enforced in Massachusetts at least not in my area. So, why even have the law if it's not being enforced? Either way, the law is the law.
