Powerball player in Lincoln County wins lower-tier prize

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. (WAFF) - One Powerball player in Lincoln County, Tennessee won a $50,000 prize in Wednesday’s drawing for an $847 million jackpot. The Tennessee Lottery said one player bought a ticket at Lucky’s Place on Huntsville Highway in Fayetteville that matched four of the five balls plus the powerball to win the prize.

Kitchen Cops find overflowing toilet, clogged dishwasher and rodent droppings across the Valley

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Kitchen Cops made a very unpleasant discovery while checking out a restaurant in DeKalb County this week. Hacienda Real on South Valley Avenue in Collinsville was hit with a 72 after the inspectors found rodents and rodent droppings. The health department notes that this was found in a storage building that was separate from the main restaurant building. There was also an issue with gray sewage water backing up onto the kitchen floor from the sink and dishwasher, and a lack of soap in a restroom.

Cullman graduate Paul Callan helps redesign schools he once attended

CULLMAN, Ala. – Architect Paul Callan is helping redesign some of the same school buildings where he once attended classes, including the space where he studied drafting at Cullman High School. Callan, a 1989 Cullman High graduate, is a senior project manager at Hoover-based Lathan McKee Architects. His work with Cullman City Schools includes renovations at Cullman Middle School, the new Cullman Intermediate School at the former West Elementary campus and the STEM and Career Tech Center at Cullman High. Callan attended East Elementary and Cullman Middle School before graduating from Cullman High and earning an architecture degree from Auburn University. His return to the district began when Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff and the school board selected his firm to work on the Cullman Middle School renovation. “It was a school I had attended many years before, and it was virtually unchanged from the classrooms where I was taught, the locker-lined hallways I had roamed and the gymnasium where I had played,” Callan said. A campus tour brought back memories but also revealed the need to update the facilities. This large, affectionate cat will settle across your lap like a cozy quilt, ready for some time together. Nupert, The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week, is an approximately 4-year-old tuxedo cat available for adoption at the Cullman County Animal Shelter. This sweet boy loves to snuggle and would rather be close to his person than anywhere else. Toys are a big part of Nupert’s day, too. He enjoys playtime, but companionship is what he seeks most. For someone who likes a cat to keep them company while they read, watch television or simply unwind, Nupert could be a loving match. His adoption fee is $35 because he is already neutered. The reduced fee reflects that completed procedure, not the value of the companionship he has to offer. His adoption fee includes vaccinations and microchipping.
