Join Eagle County’s Planning Commission
Eagle County has openings for alternates on the Eagle County Planning Commission. This is a great opportunity to participate in discussions about the future of the county. To qualify, applicants must be Eagle County residents for a minimum of one year and a registered voter. The ECPC makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding land use within the Eagle Valley area of unincorporated Eagle County. Members meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m. Applications are available online at EagleCounty.us/planningapplication. Applications are due no later than May 31. Basalt sales tax revenues hanging in at high level
Basalt sales tax revenues are defying the town government’s expectations, at least through the first quarter of 2024. The town collected $2.65 million in sales-tax revenues through March, an increase of 5.3% from first quarter 2023, according to a report released Friday. The budget passed for 2024 projected a decline in sales-tax collections by $660,000 or nearly 9% from the 2023 budgeted amount.

Popular Eagle confectionary to open new location in Edwards
Sweet Mustache, a local- and women-founded and owned pastry shop with a distinctly Chilean flair, is opening a second location in the Riverwalk at Edwards. Sweet Mustache is owned and operated by Amaya Laws and Ana Paez, trained pastry chefs and longtime Eagle County residents. Laws and Paez met 23 years ago while in culinary school in Chile, where they both grew up. They moved to Eagle County shortly after graduating.

Big changes for Eagle County’s open space regulations
Eagle County is changing many of the rules and regulations on its open space lands. Some of those changes come with increased fees and penalties. The Eagle County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved those changes on a 2-0 vote, with Commissioners Matt Scherr and Jeanne McQueeney voting in favor of the new rules. Commissioner Kathy Chandler-Henry was absent.

Summer Concert Series and Festivals

Eagle Valley Elementary School students travel by foot, bike and scooter to get to school
Families and students took alternate means to get to Eagle Valley Elementary School on Wednesday in what has become a springtime tradition. Although it was a frosty May morning, just under 200 students participated in the annual bike and walk to school day, traveling by foot, bike, rollerblades or scooter.
