A teenager has died in the Colorado mountain town of Gypsum after getting hurt during a fight involving several teens. One young person is under arrest in the case, which is being investigated as a homicide.The Eagle County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest on Thursday with a message: "We are heartbroken to announce we are actively investigating a juvenile fatality." Avon police release video seeking information on fatal hit-and-run incident
Last week, Avon Police Department released a video on its Facebook page sharing the emergency call that came in on Tuesday, March 5 at 6:50 p.m., detailing the scene of what would later be determined as a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 76-year-old John “Jack” Ladesic of Pennsylvania.

With recent grant, Avon to become first Colorado municipality to offer Styrofoam recycling
The town of Avon is soon to become the first municipality in Colorado to implement a Styrofoam recycling program. On March 19, Avon sustainability staff received notice that the town’s application for a grant to initiate a Styrofoam recycling program in Eagle County had been approved. Avon will receive $111,105 through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity program to purchase a Styrofoam densifier. Avon town staff applied for the grant in early January.

Gypsum to update permitting of an old plan for I-70 airport interchange
Town of Gypsum officials are serious about reviving ideas for an interchange to link Interstate 70 to the Eagle County Regional Airport. The Gypsum Town Council recently authorized spending roughly $800,000 to update old permits for the project, but an interchange will require crossing the Eagle River and the Union Pacific railroad tracks. Right-of-way for the project still exists.
