Wells College finds new buyer for historic campus

A Chicago-based real estate developer has signed a purchase agreement to buy the former Wells College campus in Aurora with plans for a senior living community. "For now we're still negotiating," said developer Paul Warshauer, who made a $10 million cash offer and signed the agreement last Thursday. Broome County housing advocates skeptical of city’s proposal to address homelessness they say falls short

Binghamton housing advocates say they’re skeptical of a new initiative in the city aimed at ending street homelessness and encampments. Mayor Jared Kraham said the city will contract with Catholic Charities of Broome County to fund housing subsidies for people living in the encampments. Street outreach teams will go to each encampment to move people into homes, according to a press release from Kraham’s office.

According to Mental Health America, New York state was found to have an average score of 30.2 individuals at risk for severe depression per 100,000 people in the state population.
