Chillicothe Farmers Market officially moves to Yoctangee Park

CHILLICOTHE— If you are looking for a place to get the freshest fruits and vegetables in Ross County, look no further than the Chillicothe Farmers Market, which will soon celebrate its move to a new location in Yoctangee Park. The market has operated in several different locations in recent years, but vendors could often be found in the parking lot of the service building. That area offered no shade or protection from the elements. This new location inside the multi-purpose building in Yoctangee Park provides shelter year-round for vendors and customers, keeping them out of the snow and rain. The bay windows on each side of the building will allow for airflow and easy access to and from the park. Earlier this summer, when vendors were asked their thoughts on the move , many said they were looking forward to having a permanent home that can be used year-round. Now that the building is actually built, vendors can actually see their future home and better visualize what markets will be like in the park and near Chillicothe's downtown. Athens coffee shop faces backlash over new butterbeer drink

An Athens coffeehouse that faced criticism for the name of a late-October latte special now is facing criticism for taking the drink off its menu. Donkey Coffee, four blocks off the campus of Ohio University, introduced its Butter Beer Latte on Oct. 26 as a take on a beverage popular that's popular with characters in the "Harry Potter" series of books and movies. A day later, the 25-year-old business issued an apology on its social media pages after customers and online commenters raised concern about "Harry Potter" author JK Rowling's long history of opposition to transgender rights . Donkey Coffee said it was discontinuing the latte until it could settle on a new name for the drink. View this post on Instagram "We especially apologize to the trans community," the coffee shop posted . "It was never our intention to offend — thanks for pointing this out to us." That decision sparked anger with a different point of view. Critics of the initial critics said people were being too sensitive and the shop was caving to pressure. "Unfollowing and not buying your coffee. ... Pandering leaves a bitter taste in my mouth," one person said on the store's Instagram page.

Taste of Muskingum celebrates food, entrepreneurship and second chances

Local chefs will serve up tasting samples and compete for the title of Muskingum County's Top Chef at the 8th annual Taste of Muskingum Chef Competition Nov. 4 at Weatherington Woods in Zanesville. Guests will vote for the winner at the FoodWorks Alliance fundraiser, according to a community announcement. The event also will include a silent auction, wine pull, games, prizes and entertainment. Proceeds will support FoodWorks Alliance programs for aspiring food entrepreneurs, small food businesses and women in recovery. Supporting local programs FoodWorks Alliance provides aspiring food entrepreneurs and small food businesses with affordable access to a licensed commercial kitchen, business guidance and opportunities to grow, according to the announcement. The organization also works in food education, food recovery and workforce development. Its Recovery With a Purpose program helps women in recovery develop kitchen and life skills, build confidence and make community connections, according to the announcement. Wing lovers rejoice. Wingstop opens its first Ross County location

CHILLICOTHE— Whether you like mild barbecue sauce on your wings or you are brave enough to try atomic-level spice, the newest restaurant in Ross County is for you. A Wingstop location recently opened in Chillicothe and is serving chicken wings, tenders, sandwiches, and more. The business is known for its fresh wings and seasoned fries. Customers are able to order their boneless or classic wings covered in a variety of sauces, including lemon pepper and hickory smoked BBQ, original hot, atomic and more. Previously, the closest Wingstop to Ross County was in Lancaster. Less than an hour after opening day on Oct. 26 the store already had several customers joining them to celebrate the grand opening.
