AKRON, Ohio — U.S. Marshals arrested a man last week wanted in connection with a hit-skip crash that killed a former Martin County resident last month in Akron, Ohio. David Allen Farren, 23, of Akron, is behind bars on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and hit skip in connection with the death of 47-year-old Jimmy “Rocky” Fletcher of Akron.

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department is out of service, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office on Thursday afternoon. The Fire Marshal said in a release, “The Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department has voluntarily closed due to not having a valid workers compensation insurance policy in place.”
Police: Man facing charges after reported stabbing
LAWRENCE CO., Ky. (WYMT) - A Lawrence County man is in jail after an incident that reportedly started over a “mom” joke. Police said it happened last weekend at a home on 104 Wallace Street in Louisa. Dozens of community families gathered at Paintsville Lake State Park on Saturday, March 23 to take part in the Christ Community Baptist Church Easter egg hunt, which included free food and the giveaway of two scooters in addition to the contents of the eggs. According to Pastors Alex Garner and Seth Daniels, Christ Community Baptist Church believes it is important to reach out to the community and give back through events such as these as they operate as a “church plant” originating from Lakeville Baptist Church in Salyersville and currently hold services at Prestonsburg High School while working toward finding a building to host their congregation permanently. INEZ — Martin County Fiscal Court is working to shed rundown images within the county. Progress is happening, as evidenced by Frank Horn Park. The park lies off Route 40 on the west end of Inez and is home to the Martin County Cal Ripken League. For years, the park and its baseball field had fallen into disrepair. Structures were marred by damage and decay. Roofs leaked, stairs rotted away, and one dugout stood forlorn and closed off. The restroom facilities were shuttered, forcing the county to resort to temporary solutions. The scoreboard was a relic of better times, while the parking lot resembled an obstacle course more than a welcoming entrance.
Martin County boys tennis ends in draw with Russell, girls team falls
RUSSELL — The Martin County boys and girls tennis teams took on the Russell Red Devils in set play March 18 on the road. The boys match concluded in a 5-5 draw, while the Lady Cardinals lost to Russell 5-0. Martin County’s Connor Dials, the No. 1 seed, faced a challenging opponent, losing the first set 8-0 but rallying to claim a win in the second set with a score of 8-1.
