Akron-Area Fans Skip Pricier Chicken Places For This Humble Ohio Spot With Free Soft Serve
Some families in the Akron area have a simple rule for dinner out: the meal should end with a free cone. One modest restaurant just outside Barberton has turned that rule into a local habit. Its fried chicken follows the famous Barberton style, its hot rice has a loyal following,...

Bring An Empty Cooler To Troyer’s Trail Bologna In Dundee, Ohio
A shop in Ohio asks you to bring an empty cooler, and I completely understand why. The same family has been making trail bologna here since 1912. That is more than a century of smoked meat. The place is small. It also doubles as a sandwich stop, with a counter...

12 Akron, Ohio Pizza Spots That Are Surprisingly Affordable And Good

You never know what you are going to find on their menu. I'll point out that The Canton Repository has reviewed Fizzlestix several times since it opened, and each time it was based on different parts of the menu. For the most recent, the now-retired Bev Shaffer spotted a flight of french fries and said we just had to try that. In addition to the eatery's old standbys such as burgers and wraps, Fizzlestix is always cooking up something interesting. I was excited to head back during October, after I had so enjoyed its incredible burger creations last Halloween. From the Evil Dead burger, a patty infused with chorizo and beef, topped with pico de gallo, burnt cheese, fried jalapeños and sriracha aioli; to the Jack O Lantern burger, a patty infused with brown sugar and cheddar and topped with bacon, cheddar, lettuce and candy soy sauce, it was difficult to choose what to eat. Knowing the chef always has a great burger

During a regular meeting Monday night, Elyria City Council called for a public hearing regarding a new liquor permit for a bar on the city’s east side that has previously raised concerns of safety from city officials and residents. In April, The Bistro on Taylor Street was denied a...
