Prison is the next stop for a La Salle man who got violent with an elderly woman. Thirty-four-year-old Jesse Anderer on Thursday pleaded guilty to a felony count of aggravated battery to a victim over the age of 60. Judge Cynthia Raccuglia proceeded to sentence him to 3 years in prison.

Early Morning House Fire On North Side Of La Salle
A house fire broke out overnight in La Salle. Firefighters from Peru and Utica assisted the La Salle Fire Department in handling a blaze in the 600 block of Garfield Avenue just after 1 o'clock Thursday morning. When arriving on scene, crews were faced with heavy fire conditions in the front of the home. They were able to gain control of the fire in under 15 minutes.

Prison awaits a Princeton man who battered a group of emergency room nurses along with a hospital security guard. Thirty-eight-year-old Jesse Shanyfelt was in a Bureau County courtroom on Friday. He pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal damage to government supported property. He was given 4 ½ years for the battery charges and 3 years for the damage to property crime. The two sentences will be served at the same time, or concurrently.

Princeton swears in new officer; city audit is good
At the Princeton City Council Tuesday evening, officer Jake Foster was sworn in as Sergeant by City Clerk Peter Nelson. Foster is a Bureau Valley graduate and obtained his Associates in law enforcement at Sauk Valley Community College. He served as an officer in Buda, Walnut and Bradford before joining the Princeton force in 2012. He has worked with the TRIDENT Drug Task Force since 2015. He holds several levels of accomplishment in both Jujitsu and Karate.
