An unidentified man is in stable condition after being stabbed in Peru early Sunday. Police Chief Sarah Raymond said officers received a report around 1:30am and responded to the 300 block of 5th street. Meanwhile, the 31-year old victim had already left with police talking to him at a hospital.

Dixon, IL – In a bid to apprehend a suspect involved in a series of check frauds, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has turned to the public for assistance. According to the department’s announcement, the female suspect is allegedly linked to cashing multiple checks and withdrawing substantial sums from several local accounts, resulting in felony charges. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information that could lead to identifying the suspect to come forward.

(Eden TWP) Vincent Gray (27) of Tonica was driving north on E 4th RD when he disobeyed the stop sign and struck a vehicle traveling east on N 1851stRD. Cheryl Hobneck (74) of Tonica was driving east on N 1851st RD when Vincent disobeyed the stop sign, striking the back right corner of her vehicle. Vincent was cited for failure to yield at stop or yield intersection.

Man Arrested in Peru for LaSalle County and State of Texas Warrants for Weapons and Drugs
Sheriff Adam Diss of the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 34-year-old Michael L. Wilson. The arrest was made on February 22, 2024, on the 700 block of Peoria Street in Peru, by members of the US Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Wilson was sought by authorities in LaSalle County on charges of possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a weapon without a Firearm Owners Identification Card, both of which are class 3 felonies. Furthermore, Wilson was wanted in the State of Texas for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Labeled as a fugitive from justice, Wilson is currently detained at the La Salle County Jail without bond.

A crash that did some damage to Sam's Pizza in Ottawa apparently happened because a driver got distracted reaching for some smokes. Forty-two-year-old Brian LaValle of Streator was eastbound on West Norris Drive Wednesday morning when his pickup went off the drive, hit a fence, a couple of concrete tables, a partial cement wall before hitting and snapping a power pole. Part of the pole landed on the roof and hood of LaValle's truck. He was taken to OSF in Ottawa.

The city of Ottawa continues to find new ways to use the Jordan Block after everything on it was lost in a 1998 fire. The latest idea to use the downtown space is a live music experience called “Jordan Block Jams”. Concerts are planned June 21st, July 19th, and August 2nd. Performers haven't been announced yet.
