Clinton County Sheriff Deputies responded at about 1 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Francis and Pratt roads, said Clinton County Lieut. Dan Spitzley.

The initial investigation showed that the 17-year-old from Dewitt had been travelling eastbound when he drove out in front of a northbound commercial vehicle, which a 26-year-old Grand Rapids-area man was driving.

Officials took the 17-year-old boy to Sparrow Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 26-year-old Grand Rapids-area man received treatment on scene for minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, Spitzley said.
