Consolidating care: New $94 million veterinary lab to open Chester County

On Oct. 2, construction of the new $94 million University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture began. The 63,000-square-foot lab will bring together the New Bolton Center laboratory of the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System (PADLS) and the Pennsylvania Equine Toxicology Research Laboratory (PETRL). The lab is expected to be completed in 2028, and PADLS and PETRL will move in by 2029.

Cheltenham Township’s 2027 budget proposal includes an effective tax increase of 5%

The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners presented the proposed 2027 Budget and Financial Plan during a meeting on Wednesday, November 4. The proposal includes a 2.1702-mill increase of the property tax rate, from 10.8512 to 13.0214 mills, or approximately 20%. However, because municipalities can no longer collect a separate stormwater fee, the effective tax hike is 5%.
