Rice Lake, Minn.- The St. Louis County Historical Society is hosting a memorial run on Saturday. The 5k run-walk will be held in memory of Command Sergeant Major John S. Werner. CSM Werner was the first mayor of Rice Lake, Boy Scout troopmaster, mechanic, and of course veteran, with over 40 years of service. Unfortunately, Werner passed away this March. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Veterans Memorial Hall which leaders say Werner cared about deeply. Registration is $30 and the run will be held at the Other Place Bar and Grill.
