SPOONER — Excitement is starting to build for the upcoming 70th Spooner Heart of the North Rodeo, set for July 11-13. Many of the top professional rodeo contestants from around the country will compete at Spooner for points and prize money that could ultimately help them qualify for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.
The 69th Spooner Rodeo last July was a record breaker. A combination of record ticket sales, great action inside the arena, spectacular special acts and perfect weather all combined to make the 69th Spooner Rodeo the very best ever held. It was the first time ever that all three performances were completely sold out.
Fans attending the 70th Spooner Rodeo can expect even more great pro rodeo action and fun this year. They can also look forward to shopping at the vendors’ booths all three days, special happenings at each show, prizes, great music after each rodeo performance and much, much more. And on Saturday, July 12, the huge Spooner Rodeo Parade with more than 100 units, bands, floats, Native American dancers, horses galore, emergency vehicles, fire trucks, prizes, kids and more will thrill thousands of onlookers lining the parade route.
Trick rider Lindy LicaFeatured this year at the Spooner Rodeo, fans can look forward to the thrilling riding skills of Lindy Lica.
Lica is a professional trick and Roman rider from Bloomington, Ill. She began trick riding at the age of 10 and has been performing rodeos, Wild West shows and dinner theaters over half of her life.
Lica rides two flashy and fast buckskin horses, Colt .45 and Remington, who have taken her all over the country performing their death-defying craft.
She performed stunt work on the films “Cowgirls” and “Angels 2: Dakota’s Summer,” a family film with a focus on the trick riding lifestyle. Lica has been featured at Dolly Parton’s Stampede, where she performed over 800 shows a year.
Lica began using her talents competitively in 2014, where her Roman riding act was named the IPRA Contract Act Showcase Champion. In 2016, she qualified for the North American Trick Riding Championships in Las Vegas. Lica has been voted PRCA Top 5 Dress Act twice. She will have you at the edge of your seat at the 70th Spooner Rodeo on July 11-13.
