Stockton's two-headed RB monster helps secure NUIC title from Forreston
STOCKTON ― Stockton used the one-two punch of Morgan Haas and Carter Blair, and a late goal-line stand, to hold off Forreston in a Week 9 game that had a postseason feel to it. "It definitely felt like we were in a playoff game tonight," Stockton's head coach Sean Downey said after his team's 28-14 win on Friday night. "And we're hoping we can carry this feeling right on into the postseason." More Rockford-area football: VOTE for the Rockford area top quarterback for the 2026 regular season With the win, Stockton (8-1, 7-0 NUIC) secured its second NUIC title in a row, won its 19th conference game in a row, and solidified its first-round playoff bye with what will most likely be a No. 1, 2 or 3 seed when the IHSA football pairings come out Saturday night. And they rode the backs of Haas and Blair. "This is just how we're supposed to do it," said Blair after he and Haas both rushed for over 100 yards. "It got a little tight there for awhile, though." After Forreston opened the scoring on a 21-yard pass from quarterback Connor Politsch to Jonathan Milnes on the first play of the second

The Knights—who entered the IHSA Girls Flag Football State Quarterfinal at 19‑0—played like a team intent on proving that perfection isn’t an accident. 13 is lucky number for Hononegah girls flag football en route to state
The Hononegah girls flag football team won its 13th game in a row earlier this week to soar to the state quarterfinals, scoring 13 points for the third time in four playoff games, and finding a way to stay alive. Defense has been the name of the game for this year's Hononegah crew, especially down the stretch and this postseason, as they knocked off Crystal Lake Central 13-7 in Tuesday's Antioch Sectional final. They've allowed more than one touchdown only once the past 13 games, and that was in last week's 13-12 sectional semifinal win over Antioch. More Rockford-area flag football: Hononegah soars in girls flag football sectionals, but not Harlem "This defense has been the difference for us," Hononegah head coach Jason Brunke said. "They moved it a little on us, but we kept stalling them out, and we really didn't even need that goal line stand." She had a sack and was all over the field Tuesday. She leads the team with 25 sacks on
