COLUMBUS — Ohio State has the top-ranked 2025 recruiting class and isn’t close to finished adding prospects to it.

The Buckeyes have 13 pledges to their class with a majority of them on the defensive side of the ball. That certainly feels like a first under head coach Ryan Day, but it’s a nice change of pace.

Official visits are on the horizon for numerous offensive prospects and ahead of June, Lettermen Row does a temperature check on wide receiver recruitments.

READ: Where Ohio State stands with top remaining running back targets

    Hot

Five-star Plus+ Duncanville (Texas) wide receiver and LSU commit Dakorien Moore visited Ohio State twice this spring. Both visits were very good for the relationship and what the Buckeyes are trying to maintain with their wide receiver room. The country’s top-ranked wide receiver remains committed to the Tigers of course, but the Buckeyes are throwing everything at Moore to get him to flip. This recruitment has wheels to it for Ohio State. If an official visit takes place this summer, things could really start to boil over.

Five-star Jacksonville (Fla) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench last week felt like an Ohio State lock. Now he himself has said the Buckeyes are fourth. Yes, that’s a cool down. But I still like where the Buckeyes stand and the Buckeyes like where they stand. There’s a long way to go and I’m not going to bet against Brian Hartline in this life or the next. I will say, however, that Texas really needs to be paid attention to.

Four-star Mission Viejo (Calif) wide receiver Phillip Bell was visited by Hartline earlier this week and the Buckeyes have done an excellent job lurking in the background. The feeling is that Bell will stay home and head to USC, but Hartline and Devin Jordan have been on Bell for almost two years now. He visited in March and will head back in June for his official visit.

    Moderate

Four-star Orlando (Fla) Jones wide receiver Vernell Brown III also felt like an Ohio State lock, but according to On3’s Chad Simmons, things are shifting toward Brown being more interested in staying home. Simmons reported that Florida State and Florida are giving Brown a lot to think about heading into official visit season.

Four-star Geneva (Ill) Community wide receiver Talyn Taylor has been a hard recruitment to read. He shared a few weeks back that he will make an official visit to Ohio State at the end of June, but there are several RPM predictions for him to pick Georgia. Notre Dame is also in the mix.

Four-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic wide receiver Quincy Porter is a target I could very well see Ohio State cranking up the heat on. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Jersey prospect could be the big-body target the Buckeyes need in this cycle. Porter has his official visit the second weekend of June. He will take trips to Michigan and likely Penn State and Rutgers.

    Cold

Four-star Red Oak (Texas) wide receiver Taz Williams is the very rare wide receiver prospect that Ohio State has recruited, but is leaning toward Michigan . Yes, even the Wolverines need wide receivers and Williams seemingly is headed toward Ann Arbor. Things here have cooled off between both sides — Williams and Ohio State — as the Buckeyes push for Dakorien Moore.

Four-star Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon visited Ohio State this spring, but I just don’t hear his name often when it comes to the board. He will be on campus the first official visit weekend of June. I look toward McCutcheon, a former teammate of 2024 Ohio State linebacker signee Payton Pierce, to head to Florida State.
