Whiteoak class of 1974 celebrates 50th anniversary
The Whiteoak High School class of 1974 celebrated its 50th anniversary last Saturday at the 108th Whiteoak Alumni Reunion. Twenty-two members of the class were present including (front row, l-r) Sam Scott, Thom Snyder, Jill Yochum Schelling, Karen Greene Schroeder, Cathy Bohl Rummel, Diane Beath Luman and Sandy Warlamount Westrich; (back row, l-r) Dennis Overstake, Dan Lucas, Beckey Emery Lucas, Keith Beucler, Mark McKee, Debbie Naylor Purvis-Heaton, John Estle, Nola Blair, Jeff Harvey, Jean Carpenter Schmidt, Don Igo, Jim Schroeder, Sam Perkins, Debbie Guthrie Robertson and Carla Guthrie Surber.
Southern State to hold youth summer program June 24-27
Southern State Community College recently announced “Kids Career Encounter, a Summer Enrichment Program” taking place June 24-27. Designed to foster creativity, learning, and personal growth, Kids Career Encounter offers students the chance to learn about different career pathways, according to a news release. Each session will be filled with fun activities that relate to one or more of Southern State’s academic programs.
State Track Feature: Whiteoak Wildcats ready to make history at Division III State Championships
SUGAR TREE RIDGE — Two sets of brothers are set to represent Whiteoak High School this week at the Division III OHSAA State Track and Field Championships, as the Eyre and Blair brothers have qualified for a combined four events at the highest level to compete in high school competition in Ohio.
