Wilmington City School officials prepare to again take earned income tax levy to the voters
WILMINGTON — Wilmington City School District officials are preparing to again place an earned income tax levy on the election ballot — this time in March. At Monday’s Wilmington Board of Education meeting, the board members passed a resolution that would allow the proposed levy to be reviewed by the Ohio Department of Taxation. Wilmington School District Treasurer Kim DeWeese told the News Journal the state will send a certificate to her indicating the percentage required to raise the amount.

LCNB National Bank to acquire Eagle Bank for $23.1M
In a $23.1 million deal, the parent company of LCNB National Bank has agreed to acquire Bridgetown-based Eagle Bank, the institutions said Wednesday. Subject to Eagle shareholder and regulatory approval, the deal would add three Eagle branches (in Bridgetown, Delhi Township and Hyde Park) to the Lebanon community bank with 34 branches in Ohio and Northern Kentucky. The merger is expected to close by mid 2024, the banks said in a joint statement.

Comberger leads way as WHS girls cage Lions at Royal Z Lanes
WILMINGTON — With another bowler leading the way, the Wilmington girls bowling team defeated New Richmond Wednesday night at Royal Z Lanes. Kiley Comberger had a 404 two-game series and WHS was an easy winner 2,528 to 1,353 over NR. Kylie Fisher bowled a complete game in the second game and had 184. Izzy Rhoads had a 208 game and 397 series for WHS.

This week in Wilmington, Ohio, the Wilmington Police Department and Clinton County Sheriff's Office responded to several incidents. These included the arrest of an 18-year-old male for obstructing official business and contributing to an unruly/delinquent child, two locals facing child endangerment charges, the execution of four search warrants resulting in the seizure of narcotics, cash, and firearms, and an arson investigation into a house fire on Jefferson Drive. No arrests were announced in relation to the search warrants. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the house fire.
