New wing replaces portable classrooms at Dutchtown Middle
HAMPTON — As Dutchtown Middle School students return for the new school year, they will have access to new classrooms and science labs. School leaders, families and community members celebrated the completion of the 21,000-square-foot project at July 30’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. Principal DCrystal Williams said the expansion will further enhance students' experiences at Dutchtown Middle School. “This new space just only enhances the work that we're doing here at Dutchtown Middle School,” Williams said. “Having the ability to spread out more is definitely an asset for learning and then having the quality of the addition, it's great as well.” The new wing features 13 new classrooms —including an orchestra suite, two science labs along with workrooms, offices and restrooms. This $6,674,735 project was part of E-SPLOST IV, which runs through 2027. Dutchtown Middle’s addition is the third project finished with this current E-SPLOST with three more completions yet to come. Henry County Schools Chief Operating Officer Barry Miles’s statement to the Henry Herald commended the community’s support to make this addition possible. “A growing community needs schools that grow with it. That’s why we are so proud to be opening this brand-new classroom addition at Dutchtown Middle School,” Miles said.
