Rural school continues to rack up wins
COBDEN, Ill. — Cobden is the little high school that could. And it still can. The 1964 Appleknockers basketball team made it to the Illinois state finals and became America’s underdogs, beating teams where the school’s population was bigger than the entire village of Cobden at 900 souls. This was almost a decade before the class system started in high school sports, so the Appleknockers had to beat every team no matter how big to get to the finals.

George Boardman Clark House: a 141-year legacy
The historic George Boardman Clark House in Cape Girardeau, Missouri is also referred to as the Kellerman House. Built in 1882, the house is 141 years old. The architectural style is Queen Anne and it sits on a sandstone foundation. In about 1909, a one-story porch in front was replaced with a two-story porch. On July 22, 1994, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
