The Buffalo Bills added to their wide receiver room Sunday morning by signing a player who is coming off a year-long suspension.

Quintez Cephus, a 2020 fifth-round pick of the Detroit Lions, was suspended for the 2023 season due to gambling. He was recently reinstated by the league last week, along with four other players who had received indefinite bans.

Cephus' agency, SportsTrust Advisors, announced he is heading to Buffalo this morning.

With the Lions, Cephus played in 13 games and started two as a rookie, catching 20 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns. However, injuries limited him to only nine games total in 2021-22, as he added another 17 receptions for 219 yards and two more scores.

The Bills needed to add wide receivers this offseason following the departures of Gabe Davis in free agency and Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Houston Texans. Buffalo took Florida State star Keon Coleman with the first pick of the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday night, and he's likely to have a major role as a rookie.

Third-year pro Khalil Shakir and free agent signing Curtis Samuel will also be counted upon, while Cephus will look to battle it out with veterans Mack Hollins, KJ Hamler and Andy Isabella as well as 2023 fifth-round pick Justin Shorter.
