With the spring transfer portal over, college football programs can finally start making decisions on their final rosters over the summer. While the Ohio State Buckeyes might be one of the more loaded teams in the country, head coach Ryan Day still has a decision to make at the quarterback position with former starter Kyle McCord now joining the Syracuse Orange.

The Buckeyes had talented, yet unproven players behind McCord like Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz. However, with the additions of former Kansas State starter Will Howard and incoming freshman Julian Sayin through the transfer portal, along with fellow freshman recruit Air Nolan, Day has plenty of options to choose from.

College GameDay Podcast host Rece Davis pointed to the most experienced option to get the nod in week one on Wednesday’s episode when asking co-host Pete Thamel, “It’s got to be Will Howard just to start right?”

Thamel agreed saying, “Will Howard can figure it out on third and four. Will Howard, they can also call five QB runs a game for him.”

Time will tell who’s taking the first snaps for the Buckeyes. They’ll kick off their 2024 season with a home opener against Akron on August, 31.
