'Cowboys-Level' Asset? NFL Executive Drops Huge Hint About ‘New’ America’s Team

Everyone likes to talk about which athletes or teams 'move the needle' in sports.

For years, at least in terms of creating the NFL schedule, the Dallas Cowboys were the needle.

That doesn't appear to be the case any longer.

According to NFL executive Mike North, the league's vice president of broadcast planning, the Kansas City Chiefs have become a 'Cowboys-level' asset.

"They’re Cowboys-level assets right now,” North said of the Chiefs, via SB Nation's Arrowhead Pride . “Knowing that everybody’s going get a certain number of them, being able to pull two Kansas City games out of the mix, put them in a TBD-black box kind of holding spot for the Saturday-Wednesday round robin at the end, we wanted to make sure that we still felt like we could deliver quality Kansas City inventory to NBC."

"NFL VP of broadcast planning Mike North described the Chiefs as a "Cowboys-level asset" in terms of creating the schedule," Arrowhead Pride's Pete Sweeney writes.

The Cowboys may still be America's Team - but that moniker is certainly wearing off. It's been nearly 30 years since Dallas last made an NFC title game or Super Bowl (1995).

Kansas City, meanwhile, has hoisted three Lombardi Trophies in the past five years.
