Arrest made after multiple horses were shot, killed in Bedford County

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — An arrest has been made after multiple horses were shot in the head and killed in Bedford County.

Waylon Cole Brennan, 25, of Breezewood, was charged with animal cruelty after state police were called about two horses being shot in the head and dying.

Troopers said they were called to a residence on Dec. 21, 2023, about two dead horses on the property in East Providence Township. Police noted in the criminal complaint that both horses had gunshot wounds to the head. According to the land owner, she heard a truck with loud exhaust and playing loud music at the time of the alleged shooting.

State police said the woman told them her ex might be involved, however, messages revealed that Brennan might have killed the horses in retaliation.

On the night of question, someone familiar with Brennan said he asked them to say he was with them all night, the complaint reads.

It was noted that during the investigation, a third horse was found shot in the head, according to charges filed.

Brennan was charged with conspiracy aggravated cruelty to animals. He was placed in Bedford County Prison with bail set at $300,000.
