The last big weekend of spring games is here with Deion Sanders and Colorado, Matt Rhule and Nebraska and Dan Lanning and Oregon bringing in elite prospects for the festivities.

On3 brings you the latest on those programs and where things stand with many of the nation’s top recruits.

Colorado tracking for a few commitments

Sanders and his staff are looking for their first commitment of the 2025 cycle. And it looks like they’re about to get hot.

Buford (Ga.) High’s touted linebacker Mantrez Walker is back on campus this weekend after a great visit in the fall. He feels like the Buffaloes have recruited him as the No. 1 guy at the position and he’s built a nice rapport with Andre’ Hart on the staff. We have him marked as someone who could end his process by the end of the weekend. Walker is a former Michigan commit.

IMG Academy and Detroit native Alex Graham is trending towards Colorado including my RPM. He has a decision date locked in for April 26 and we like the way this one is going for Sanders and the Buffs.

Sources continue to indicate Colorado is the team to watch for Bluff City (Tenn.) Sullivan East tight end/defensive lineman Corbin Laisure as well. He has a final four that also includes Arizona State, Louisville and Ole Miss and he’s set to announce his college plans on April 27.

Buffaloes turning it up for four-star offensive lineman

Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy four-star offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden is slated to be in Boulder this weekend and Colorado staffers Corey Phillips and Darius Darden-Box have put the Buffaloes in strong position ahead of this visit.

Gooden has a Top 10 that also includes Auburn, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri, Clemson and Georgia.

The On3 Industry ranks Gooden as the nation’s No. 25 interior offensive line prospect.

More high-profile prospects expected in Boulder

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage On300 running back Byron Louis left for Boulder on Tuesday for an extended visit. He posted a Top 10 at the end of 2023 that didn’t include Colorado but the Buffaloes are rising here as they try and make a move on the likes of Florida State, Miami and Ohio State. The Seminoles are my current RPM pick.

Lewisville (Texas) High five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi tells On3 he’ll be on campus as Colorado battles the likes of Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

Tampa (Fla.) Sumner On300 offensive lineman Ziyare Addison also tells On3 he will make his second visit to Colorado of the spring. He raved about his first experience.

“Coach Prime’s vision for the program and myself is next level,” Addison said. “I love how he connects with the players, you can really tell he cares. Adding Coach Phil (Loadholt) to the staff was big deal for me, I love his approach to the game. The great relationship I built with Coach (Devin) Rispress is super big for me.

“Colarado feel like home.”

On3 is told Chattanooga (Tenn.) Oakland playmaker and USC commit Daune Morris could be in town and in the 2026 class Detroit Cass Tech On300 receiver CJ Sadler says he’ll be back on campus and Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge On300 cornerback Dorian Barney says he’ll be there as well.

A Transfer Target to keep an eye on

Former Auburn cornerback Colton Hood was in-line to start on The Plains this fall until he went into the NCAA Transfer Portal. A source on Wednesday morning told On3 to keep an eye on Colorado and by the end of the day he had a visit to Boulder set up. The Buffaloes look like the team to beat right away.

Five-star QB Julian Lewis won’t be at the Colorado spring game

Carrollton (Ga.) High blue-chipper and USC commit Julian Lewis will compete in the Elite 11 Regional.

“They understood,” Lewis’s father TC said. “We’ll be out on the OV and that kind of thing (in June). They told him go do what he did at Rivals and handle business and that kind of thing.”

Auburn and the Buffaloes are currently considered the biggest threats to flip Lewis from the Trojans with perhaps the Tigers slightly above Colorado right now but Sanders and company are in the middle of this one.

“Relationship with Coach (Pat) Shurmur is very strong and relationship with rest of the staff is good too. They’re a real option.”

Schools are negative recruiting Colorado to the Lewis camp.

“What’s interesting in general, we get spammed, every time someone transfers peopled are reaching out to me ‘there is another one, there is another one,’” TC explained. “I think people don’t understand the amount of pressure coach is under this year. It’s his last ride with Shedeur (Sanders), Travis (Hunter) and Shilo (Sanders). The motivation is to add to the roster with guys that help immediately. But if you look deeper the guys they’re bringing in are multiple-year guys. They’re building for the present and future while they’re doing it.”

Lewis heads back to USC the weekend of June 7. Auburn is set for June 14. Colorado is slated for June 21.

Five-stars and top targets visiting Oregon

A few of the absolute nation’s best recruits will be in Eugene to watch the Ducks cap spring camp in On3’s No. 1 ranked defensive lineman Elijah Griffin , the top-ranked cornerback DJ Pickett , the No. 2 tight end in the land Linkon Cure and the No. 1 overall prospect in the country in defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart .

Georgia is the RPM favorite for Griffin but he’s been making the rounds and now we’ll see if head coach Dan Lanning and his staff can make a move. Folks around USC felt like they did this spring and Griffin is expected back out there for an official this summer.

Pickett recently told On3 that LSU and Miami and running neck and neck but this will be his third trip to see the Ducks so he’s giving the new Big Ten program all the opportunities to land him as well.

The RPM favors Kansas State for Cure with the opportunity to play close to home near family being exciting. But he wanted to get back to Oregon ahead of his June official so the Ducks may be the biggest challenger to the Wildcats. Cure also visited Kansas this spring and he heads to Texas A&M the first weekend of May. Officials are set for Oregon June 14 and Kansas State the following weekend.

Stewart is a potential reclassification to the 2025 class. USC has hosted him three times and he’ll be back there this summer for camp and will also attend the LSU vs USC game in Las Vegas. A recent visit to Ohio State was a big needle mover as well. Other contenders include Georgia, Miami and Texas.

Addison also says he’ll be back at Oregon for what is a jam-packed weekend for him..

Nebraska has seven official visitors on campus

The program’s top quarterback target in Orange (Calif.) Lutheran High four-star quarterback TJ Lateef is one of the headliners coming in. The Huskers are in prime position there. Five-star athlete Michael Terry III returns. Two of Florida’s best in On300 receiver Cortez Mills and cornerback Antonio Branch will be in town. A couple offensive line targets in John Mills and Alai Kalaniuvalu will also take their officials.

In addition to those names, the Huskers could get On300 linebacker Dawson Merritt back to campus. Alabama has the momentum following his second visit of the spring this past weekend. Rhule and his staff are looking to stem that tide.

In other Nebraska news, I also joined On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons in predicting touted tight end Bear Tenney to the Huskers. Nebraska currently has five commits and Tenney looks like one of the next to join the fold.

Three More Transfer Portal Nuggets

If Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller does indeed go in the transfer portal as On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported he plans to, USC and Florida State initially become a couple programs to watch.

Former Michigan cornerback DJ Waller Jr. is fielding a lot of calls since going in the transfer portal but Kentucky is the initial school to keep an eye on for him. Mark Stoops and assistant Vince Marrow hail from the same hometown, Youngstown, Ohio as Waller.

UCL is perhaps on the verge of closing several transfer portal targets. The Bruins in a good spot for offensive tackle Reuben Unije from Louisville, defensive lineman Cherif Seye from FAMU, cornerback Jeremiah Hughes from LSU, tight end Bryce Pierre from Arizona State.
