Miami making strong early impression on top-60 2026 wideout

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage 2026 four-star receiver Brandon Bennett still has a ways to go in his recruitment, but Miami has done its job to stand out early to the top-60 prospect.

Bennett, the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2026 On300 and No. 8 receiver in his class, only visited Miami and Louisville this spring and says the Hurricanes have done a good job finding ways to stand out early. Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Syracuse, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma and Auburn have also found ways to make good impressions, although he’s been in more contact with Miami than any other program thus far.

“Right now, I’m just starting to get a feel for it,” Bennett told CaneSport . “This year should be the year that I start narrowing it down, because schools can’t talk to me too much right now because of my age (as a 2026 recruit). My relationship with (Miami receivers) coach ( Kevin Beard ), I feel like he’s a real coach. He knows how to coach. He knows how to teach.”

Bennett said Beard has taught him plenty both about his game as a receiver and as a track runner when they’ve had conversations. The 6-foot, 165-pound receiver runs a sub-10.5 100-meter dash and is expected to have a chance to qualify for the state track championships this season.

“Coach Beard, he’s real technician,” Bennett said. “He’ll talk about me getting in and out of my break, and then because I’m a track runner, he’ll talk to me about how many steps I should take before getting out of my drive phase and things like that.”

Bennett said he’d like to attend a Miami home game this fall along with schools including Florida State, Florida, Tennessee and Michigan as he continues to consider different programs. He said he hopes to narrow down his list this fall once programs are able to consistently have direct contact with 2026 prospects beginning in August.

“It’s going to be about my relationship with the coaches, education, culture around the school, the offensive scheme, what they do with their receivers, how they’ve done with receivers that they’ve had and stuff like that,” Bennett said.

Bennett hasn’t been talked about perhaps as much as his teammate — four-star 2026 Miami receiver commit Malachi Toney — but Bennett is currently rated higher than Toney and is starting to look like he could be one of the top wideouts in South Florida in his cycle. Miami has already made a good impression, but we expect to hear his name plenty more once the staff is able to directly call and text 2026 prospects.
