A school has an ‘edge’ for ATH Elijah Dotson with a decision on the horizon

Detroit Belleville athlete Elijah Dotson will announce his commitment on May 18. He has over 20 offers, but the four-star is expected to commit to Michigan , Michigan State , Penn State or Pittsburgh later this month.

He has visited each program on his list multiple times, he has relationships with coaches on each staff and his recruitment is starting to come into focus just weeks away from his decision.

“There is a school that has an edge,” Dotson told On3. “I feel good about each of the four schools and I like coaches, but there is a school I do like a little more. There are still some things I have to think about to make sure, but I do have a feeling.”

Pittsburgh was the first school to offer Dotson. Archie Collins is the lead recruiter.

“They have done a great job. Pitt has been with me from the beginning, we have built a relationship throughout this whole process and the coaches make me feel like a priority.”

He feels the same about Penn State.

“The first day I started at Belleville, Penn State was there. I talk to Coach Terry Smith, Coach Poindexter and Coach James Franklin. It is good vibes with their coaching staff.”

The in-state schools are contenders too. Both have new head coaches, but the Wolverines and Spartans remain high on his list.

“Michigan is coming off a national championship and I really like what they are doing. I like the new staff and they are doing big things.

“Michigan State has been working hard to get me since the new staff got there. I have been up there once and I like how honest they are and they have given me a lot to like about them.”

Dotson is ranked as an athlete, but he is pursued to play cornerback or safety in the secondary.
