Former Colorado defensive back Cormani McClain has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal after only one season with the Buffaloes.

Many people have speculated about why McClain's tenure in Colorado is ending, but the former five-star has finally released a statement about his transfer.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me this chance and opportunity to play in Boulder," McClain wrote. "I would like to thank all the CU staff members and most definitely give a special thanks to Coach Livingston for all the knowledge you've taught me in a short span of time, and a special thanks to the players.

"After all late night thoughts and great gathered ideas, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with four years of eligibility left. Thanks to the University of Boulder Colorado and all the fans!"

As a true freshman for the Buffaloes, he played in nine games, totaling 13 tackles and two pass breakups.

McClain signed with Colorado as a five-star prospect out of Lakeland, Florida. He was ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2023, according to the On3 industry rankings .
