Rhamondre Stevenson has blunt admission on potential future with Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass - New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson watched one of his fellow teammates sign a big extension on Monday.

And since he and Christian Barmore were in the same draft class, it brought up questions about his potential future in New England.

“I love Boston. I love the Patriots. I love the organization,” Stevenson said. “Yeah, I’d love to be here for countless amount of years.”

However, there are only three people remaining from that draft class still with the team. Stevenson was selected in the fourth round, while Barmore was drafted in the second round.

While it may seem the Patriots didn't make many big splashes in free agency this offseason, Eliot Wolf and Jerod Mayo still managed to accomplish their biggest goal. And that was to keep their homegrown players. So with Barmore, Kyle Dugger, Josh Uche, Michael Onwenu, and Anfernee Jennings getting either extended or re-signed, they did pretty well.

Stevenson led the Patriots in 2022 with a career-high 1,040 rushing yards and five touchdowns, along with leading the team with 69 receptions for 421 yards. The running back got off to a solid start last season, but went down with a season-ending ankle injury, having finished with 619 rushing yards and four touchdowns, in addition to 38 receptions for 238 yards.

So it makes sense why they would want to keep him around.

As for if any talks have started yet, Stevenson provided a small update.

“Draft just ended so I think those talks may or may not ramp up after the draft,” he said.
