We are mere hours away from the entire slate of the NFL Schedule being released on Wednesday evening, but the NFL has been dropping little bits of information here and there to get the fans’ mouths watering.

Yesterday, the league announced that the Jets will open the season on Monday Night Football at the San Francisco 49ers, just one year after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on last year’s opening Monday Night game.

Today it was announced that the Jets will be headed overseas to take on the Minnesota Vikings who will “host” the Jets in week five at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, per NFL Network's Wednesday morning announcement.

These two teams have faced off just 12 times over the course of their respective franchise histories and the Jets lead the series, 8-4. However, the Vikings have won the last three matchups, with the latest victory coming in the shape of a 27-22 win back in 2022.

Before that, the Jets won seven straight matchups from 1979-2010.

The big question will be whether it is a revenge game for Sam Darnold, who was picked third overall by the Jets back in 2018 or if we will see the Vikings’ first round pick from this year, Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.

Darnold was traded by the Jets to the Carolina Panthers back in 2021 where things did not go better than they did in New York. After two seasons in Carolina, Darnold backed up Brock Purdy for the 49ers. He signed with the Vikings as a free agent this year and will have a chance to compete for the starting job with McCarthy.

McCarthy was drafted 10 th overall by the Vikings after a draft day trade with the Jets to move up one spot to select the Michigan National Champion.

This should be a fun matchup in London that will also feature one of the best young receivers in the game, Justin Jefferson, going against one of the best cornerbacks in the game in the Jets’ Sauce Gardner.

The Game will air on NFL Network at 9:30 a.m. ET on October 6 th .
