This Boise restaurant has stayed open late for years. Not now - it just closed
In the mood for a moonlit fast-food run? Your choices in Boise just got a little slimmer. After a final night on Saturday, the longtime Jack in the Box at 7040 W. State St. has closed. No announcement was posted on the windows or doors Sunday, but the chain restaurant was empty and locked during normal business hours. The writing has been on the wall for months at that particular Jack in the Box, located near the intersection with Glenwood Street. Utah-based chain Mo’ Bettahs plans to take over and remodel the building, according to paperwork filed with the city of Boise. Permission was recently granted to demolish the interior of the 2,875-square-foot restaurant — “occupied previously by Jack in the Box,” the project description says. When contacted in September, a Mo’ Bettahs spokesperson did not confirm that the State Street location was coming — or offer any timeline. But as fans of the Hawaiian-style quick-service chain know, Mo’ Bettahs has expanded steadily into the Treasure Valley in recent years. And it’s certainly not averse to taking over old fast-food restaurants. In Boise, Mo’ Bettahs moved into a former Del Taco late last year at 1306 S. Broadway Ave. Mo’

Mountain to Main Street: A Boise Winter Day
Most ski days end in a ski town. A Boise ski day can end in a city. That’s one of the things that makes winter here different. Bogus Basin is just 16 miles north of Boise, close enough that a morning or afternoon on the mountain doesn’t have to take over your entire day. You can ski, snowboard, or tube, then head back down and trade your boots for something a little more comfortable.

Boise’s food-and-drink scene saw a flurry of changes this week, with a bar relocating, a longtime restaurant reopening and a chain pulling back. Here’s a quick rundown of the latest updates affecting local diners. The Alley Lounge, a vinyl-focused bar that closed in June, plans to reopen by year’s end at 113 S. 5th St. in a Boise space with twice the capacity of its original alley location.
