Groton awarded $60K for Station Avenue gateway, wayfinding improvements
GROTON — The town has been awarded a $60,000 Massachusetts Downtown Initiative Capital grant through the commonwealth’s fiscal 2027 Community One Stop for Growth. The award, recorded as the Groton Gateway Upgrade, will support Station Avenue gateway and visitor wayfinding improvements that connect the Nashua River Rail Trail with Groton Center.

Acton and eight neighboring towns weigh costs of joining MWRA water supply system
A coalition of nine MetroWest towns, including Acton, has completed a study of the costs of bringing water from the MWRA (Massachusetts Water Resource Authority) to our region. Acton’s share of the cost would be approximately $100 million, and the water could start flowing in approximately 2042. Acton Water District (AWD) officials are examining this possibility very seriously — but they caution that discussions with potential partner towns and MWRA are at an extremely early stage.

October happenings at the Acton Woman’s Club
The October luncheon program at the Acton Woman’s Club featured 9/11 widow Lauren Rosenzweig-Morton. Lauren’s husband, Philip Rosenzweig, and flight attendant Madeline Amy Sweeney, were the two residents of Acton who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 when American Airlines Flight 11 was hijacked and deliberately flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Rosenzweig-Morton described how she learned of her husband’s death that day, and she explained her subsequent involvement with Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ) and with Seeds of Peace.
