    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Atlanta, Georgia, man was charged in Boone County with several felonies after he was accused of defrauding a Boone County business on Jan. 30.

Cordary McFarland was charged on Tuesday with six counts of forgery and three counts of stealing. He is not in custody. A $100,000 bond was set. The bond memo states that McFarland is currently in Springfield, Missouri, after authorities tracked the phone he used in Columbia and rental car he rented from Indianapolis, Indiana.

The bond memo states that McFarland is traveling around the country “with the criminal purpose of passing forged documents to banks and financial institutions in order to steal from the institutions and/or businesses the forged checks are made for the purpose of stealing by deceit.”

The memo states that McFarland “has the means to have access to rental cars and airline flights that he uses to conduct his criminal enterprise through his associates out of the State of Georgia.”

The heavily redacted probable cause statement says an employee of a business reported three fraudulent transactions that included forged checks valued at $1,810.17, $2,852.17 and $2,587.18.
