Man killed after vehicle falls on him in Sacramento parking lot, police say
SACRAMENTO -- An investigation is underway after a man died after a vehicle fell on him in a parking lot late Thursday night in Sacramento, police said. The incident happened in a parking lot on the 2800 block of Gateway Oaks Drive shortly before 11 p.m.Police said the man died at the scene and he has not been identified. Later Friday afternoon, the police department said it appeared the man had been working on the vehicle before it fell off the jack.The incident remains under investigation.

CHP motorcycle officer hospitalized after hit by driver suspected of running red light in Auburn
AUBURN -- A California Highway Patrol officer is in the hospital after officers say he was hit by a driver who is suspected of running a red light in Auburn Friday morning.Around 6:30 a.m., the CHP officer was on patrol traveling northbound on Highway 49 on his motorcycle and was approaching Shale Ridge Road. Officers said another driver was traveling south on Highway 49 and they believe the driver ran a red light to eastbound Shale Ridge Road before crashing into the officer.The officer was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered major injuries, officers said. He was taken to the hospital. Caltrans said Highway 49 was closed between Bell Road and Dry Creek Road. It reopened shortly before noon.

1 hospitalized in crash that closes Sacramento roads
SACRAMENTO -- One person was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a multiple-vehicle crash in Sacramento Thursday afternoon. Police said just after 4 p.m. that West El Camino and Northgate Boulevard were closed due to the crash. People were urged to use alternative routes before the roadway reopened sometime before 7 p.m. The fire department confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital and was stable at last check. Another person had minor injuries. A white Tesla and silver Toyota SUV appeared to be involved in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
