California detectives staked out Target store: 17 citations, three felony arrests, bait bike swiped
On February 21, 2024, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Property Crimes Detectives successfully executed a Retail Theft Operation at the Target located on Madison Ave. The operation culminated in the issuance of 17 misdemeanor arrest citations, revealing three individuals with outstanding felony warrants who were subsequently transported to the Main Jail, deputies said. The merchandise recovered from the operation amounted to $1,180.
Grand Larceny arrest in Sacramento
“On January 12, 2024, three packages belonging to a local Jeweler, valued at approximately $86,000, were intercepted during transit using a complex scheme to trick package delivery companies. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) investigated the theft and discovered that, posing as an employee of the Jeweler, orchestrated the release of the packages to a third-party courier service for a small payment. The courier, in turn, transported the packages to Vallejo, where Kyle Gutierrez took possession of the stolen items. GUTIERREZ later provided the packages to Pettus in exchange for a small fee.

Suspect in several Roseville burglaries arrested during probation check
ROSEVILLE - A suspect in several burglaries in the Roseville area was arrested during a probation check earlier this month, the Roseville Police Department said.The suspect, who was not identified, was connected to five burglaries at businesses between January 13 and February 1. Roseville police said surveillance video and its Real-Time Crime Center were able to identify the suspect.A probation officer was checking in with the suspect on February 1 when officers said they found clothing, tools, shoes and stolen property from the burglaries.The suspect was previously arrested by Elk Grove Police Department in December 2023 for burglary and was released on his recognizance.He was on two counts of probation, one being mandatory supervision.

SACRAMENTO - An abandoned house was damaged and its detached garage was destroyed in a fire in Sacramento overnight. The Sacramento Fire Department said it responded to a second-alarm fire on 30th and N streets around midnight. Crews said the fire started in a detached garage and burned its way to the side of the house. The garage was destroyed and the home was damaged. Firefighters said the house was abandoned and was boarded up. No one was inside when crews arrived.A total of 16 firefighters responded and no injuries were reported. What sparked the fire is under investigation.

Suspect enters woman's home, traps her before stealing her vehicle in Sacramento area
SACRAMENTO - A woman was arrested after deputies said she climbed over a fence and entered an 88-year-old's backyard before trapping the victim in her kitchen and taking off in the victim's vehicle, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said. On Thursday, deputies said 30-year-old Destiny Oaks entered the backyard of the 88-year-old by climbing over the fence in Sacramento County. She then ran into the home and trapped the victim in the kitchen, deputies said. Oakes then grabbed the victim's cell phone to prevent her from calling 911, deputies said. She stole the victim's keys and took off in her vehicle. Responding deputies located Oakes nearby in the victim's vehicle and was taken into custody. Oakes had an unrelated felony no bail warrant out of Sacramento County for kidnapping, robbery and several other charges from a previous case.Oakes was booked on several new charges and is ineligible for bail.
