Man wearing Nazi armband kicked out of Roseville bar. Club responds to backlash

A man who wore a Nazi armband inside a Roseville bar on Halloween was kicked out after an altercation with another customer, the business said. The Onyx Club, at 116 Main St., apologized over the incident in a Facebook post Tuesday following widespread criticism on social media over allegations that staff allowed the man to remain inside despite complaints about his costume. “We’ve been called Nazi sympathizers, a Nazi bar, accused of condoning this costume, allowing him to walk around and salute in front of staff, and refusing to kick him out. All lies!” the bar said. The man entered the bar wearing a jacket about 11 p.m. on Halloween, according to the post. He later removed the jacket, revealing a Nazi armband. “Our security, door girl, or bartenders couldn’t see this person’s armband when he was let in,” the bar said. A photo of the man wearing the armband inside the bar circulated widely on social media, including in a Reddit post that drew more than 2,500 upvotes. If you are noticing more rats and mice around your home or Sacramento-area business, it’s not unusual for this time of year. Rodents are trying to find a place to nest during the colder weather, and the vermin may be trying to invade your home. It doesn’t help that the city recently ranked No. 20 of 50 worst cities for rodent infestations in the U.S. The Sacramento Bee talked to Nick Napoletano, Terminix home inspector, on what to know about rodent infestations and how to keep them out. Why is it bad to have wild rodents in my home? Mice and rats carry more than 35 diseases that can be transmitted to humans, according to Orkin. The most common are hantavirus, leptospirosis, salmonella and rat-bite fever. Rodents can transmit sickness to humans four different ways, according to Orkin: Inhalation : Breathing in dust contaminated with dried urine or droppings. Ingestion : Eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated by a rodent. Physical Contact : Touching a dead rodent, their waste or nesting materials. Sacramento County Health Inspectors gave a red placard to a soul food restaurant after finding about rodent droppings throughout the facility in addition to the live rodent. What do these inspections mean? While a yellow placard signals two or more major violations, these are typically corrected or mitigated during the inspection, according to the Sacramento County Retail Food Inspection Guide . A red placard, however, signals “imminent danger to public health and safety” and suspends an establishment’s health permit until violations are corrected. This could include, but is not limited to, major vermin contamination . In contrast, a green placard means a restaurant passed inspection. The county performs about 14,000 inspections annually and about 97% of establishments pass, spokesman Ken Casparis previously told The Sacramento Bee. Approximately 1% of inspections result in a closure, he said. These were the results of Sacramento County food facility inspections for Thursday, Oct. 29, through Wednesday, Nov. 4. Second suspect arrested after stabbing during Yuba City's Sikh festival

Sutter County deputies have arrested a second suspect in last weekend’s Sikh festival stabbing in Yuba City that sent a man to a Sacramento hospital, authorities said Wednesday. Amandeep Singh, 33, of Yuba City, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated mayhem in the stabbing Sunday, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Singh was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at Sutter County Jail in Yuba City, according to jail records. Singh joined 28-year-old Davinder Singh, of Sacramento, in Sutter County custody. Davinder Singh faces attempted murder charges, along with conspiracy to commit a crime, mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, in the knife attack that sent the victim to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The victim remained hospitalized as of Wednesday. As Sutter County authorities announced another arrest in the Sunday attack, detectives continued to investigate a Saturday shooting at a parking lot across from Sikh Temple Tierra Buena on Tierra Buena Road in Yuba City at the end of the annual Sikh Parade in the city.
